About us

 Shalanda is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Lactation Consultant.  She completed her IBCLC training at the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative at UNC Chapel Hill.  She desires to be a solution to the elevated rates of maternal mortalities amongst the black community.  She is passionate about all things breastfeeding and women's health.  She is a support for new birthing people and a revealer of the  supernatural strength of birthing people.   

As a Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Shalanda brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her practice.

Our Story
"My passion for lactation and maternal health care began after the birth of my twins. While I had a smooth experience overall, I faced an oversupply and clogged ducts. The real challenges hit when I returned home—navigating twin feedings, scheduling, and recovering from a C-section was overwhelming.

When I returned to work as a Registered Nurse in a busy Emergency Department, I struggled with finding time to pump, faced criticism from colleagues, and had no support during breaks. Despite these obstacles, I remained committed to breastfeeding my twins for 24 months and later breastfed my daughter for 3 years.

My struggles with Postpartum Depression and lack of support ignited my passion to help other mothers. I wanted to ensure that the women coming after me would have better resources and support. This experience led me to dive into the world of breastfeeding, lactation, and maternal health, and Love Latches was born from this dedication
